Bring your current fiber project whether it be knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, needle felting, what every it is! Don’t have one to bring, we can help with that for sure. 😉 Come celebrate fiber arts on June 11, 2022 at Knot Just Yarn by sitting in public doing “your thing”. I love seeing what you are working on. I love the collaboration that happens in groups of fiber people. I love how you help, support, and cheer on each other.
So, bring your chairs, you water bottles, and sunscreen, to hang out under the tent with us in Knot just Yarn’s parking lot. We will be giving away door prizes every hour on the half hour (must be present to win) and a grand prize at 4:30 PM (do not have to be present to win). We may even have a few more surprises up our sleeve….! See you tomorrow!
We just got some new cotton yarn in at the same time I just found out my new grandson was born! These colors are so pretty and vibrant. The Berroco Vivo is a soft, 100% cotton made in Italy and can be machine washed.
I think a BSJ out of this would be adorable! And then make a matching baby blanket with something warm but washable of course.
AND what about this yarn for the CAL that kickoffs Friday night. This would be great to go with some other solid cottons and a pop of this here or there, as well as the border.
So many options, so much knitting and crocheting, so little time!
I came in this morning to not just one or two boxes of new stuff, but four! I LOVE Mondays! What did we get? Well, I can’t show you EVERYTHING (because one box is not open yet) but I can tell you we had a nice shipment from Cocoknits come in. With the notions in this shipment, some of the Sweater Workshop Books for our Cocoknits’ Lizzie Cardigan Class came in. What is the Lizzie you ask? It is this darling lightweight cardigan that has a front that doesn’t close but flutters in the wind, and will go with everything in your closet, or give you reason to pick out new clothes to go with it. 😉
New books for crocheters and spinners are in, as well as some new spinning fiber by KnitSpin. Which reminds me, don’t forget this Sunday is “Spinning” from 9 am – noon! I look for ward to seeing you at the store!
Do you know April 30, 2022 is Local Yarn Store Day? Yep, we got some stuff in for that! Just as a teaser, we will have special kits and lovely discounts!
Whether or not we agree with it, spring is on the way. About a month or so back, I suffered a “knitting injury”. I had been knitting so much on a particular shawl (that I have since frogged!) that I gave myself a repetitive motion injury in my left thumb and wrist. But, I have to have yarn in my hands! No, now what?! I am now crocheting a cute cardigan in granny squares. I know, granny squares, really?! Yep! I am crocheting these out of Summer Sesame, two colors, and one color of Zinnia. Both are a cotton yarn and will be such a nice multi-seasonal cardigan.
Notice how all the granny squares are different in color? That’s the yarn that does that! I have guesstimated 8 skeins of Zinnia and 2-3 skeins each of two different color ways of Summer Sesame. I am not 100% sure on the Summer Sesame because I have now done just under a 1/3 of the squares and still have some of the original skeins left.
Another good yarn for this cardigan for the Spring-Summer-Fall months would be Unity or Unity Beyond. This is a wool/cotton/linen/bamboo blend, making the yarn a tad bit “heavier” feeling, until washed. Then it “lightens” up nicely!
With 2020 finally coming to a close, I look back on the year of social distancing, mask wearing, stay-at-home mandates, and lots and lots of fiber projects. In 2020, we went through some firsts for Knot Just Yarn: we moved during a pandemic shutdown, and we essentially started over on June 8th in our new location, we went about business as usual with First Friday Fiber Night on Zoom with Taiu Landra of Koigu, Lisa Meyers of Fairmount Fibers, and we met with Carolyn Greenwood from her home studio; we learned how to do Facebook Live during Ali Pate of Roadtrip Sock Yarn’s trunk show; we encouraged all to join us for Friday Night Stitch Night and taught people how to Zoom. We have had two KAL’s and two CAL’s in the past six months. We celebrated Small Businesses Saturday, and hosted our annual Holiday Open House. We sponsored a team for Spin Together, both virtually and in-store. We redesigned the website and have upgraded our point of sale system. We started a loyalty program for both in-store and online!
Thank you for a wonderful 6 months! Thank you to the first-time customers and our loyal “returners.” Thank you to our consigners, indie dyers, distributors, and reps for showing us ever new products (and projects)!
We have become fiber friends with people across the country, and we have fallen in love with you, our customers!
